OSHKOSH – So, you’re in town for AirVenture?
I mean, who isn’t?
After all, last year’s show attracted almost 690,000 people — and that’s without the draw of two Goodyear blimps.
Now, this edition of the world’s greatest fly-in convention, July 21-27 at Wittman Regional Airport, has everything an aviation junkie could possibly want, from aerobatic shows, military demonstrations, flying cars, drone shows, flight simulators and, of course, planes.
Lots of planes!
But there’s a lot more to the city than just Wittman Regional Airport. They don’t call Oshkosh Wisconsin’s “Event City” for no reason.
Not convinced? Just take a look at the events from live music to art shows and even rugby.
Local events
The Downtown Oshkosh Farmers’ Market at 500 N. Main St. is probably the best place to start, and then you can make your way to any number of local pubs to catch some live music.
Here’s a quick rundown of just some of the events happening for the week:
Where to eat?
Yes, sure, AirVenture has tons of food options, but guess who does, too?
That’s right, Oshkosh has its share of great local dining options, especially those with outdoor patios to take advantage of the summer weather.
It’s not like you can simply get great cheese curds just anywhere. Here are some top spots to check out:
Things to do
They say Oshkosh is home to a number of historically rich properties, but you wouldn’t believe just how many museums there are in the city.
One of the country’s largest freshwater lakes, Lake Winnebago, is also here, along with several other recreational nature trails.
And if those aren’t enough, then there’s always The Outlet Shops at Oshkosh outlet mall.
