MANITOWOC – Horsey Habit Saddlery & Tack is going out of business.
Store owners Michelle and Dave Endries announced Jan. 15 they are ready to “ride off into the sunset” and retire, closing the store, 4000 Redwood Drive. The specialty store sells boots, shoes, clothing, tack and accessories for equestrian needs. Horsey Habit was one of the largest boot stores in Wisconsin.
“After 25 incredible years in business, Dave and I are announcing our retirement,” Michelle wrote in a Facebook post. “With incredible gratitude and very full hearts, we have decided that this is the right time to step away from our store. We are ready for personal time outside of the shop and have made the difficult decision to close Horsey Habit.
“Over the past 25 years, we learned ‘people buy from people, not stores,’” she continued. “From the beginning, we have been blessed to be surrounded by staff that felt more like family and friends than actual employees. They echoed our core values and worked hard to make our customers feel as much a part of our family as they did.”
She noted that customers have become friends who will remain part of their lives.
“It is both strange and wonderful to have my original 4-H kids coming in with children of their own as we watch them carry on the family legacy, whether that’s horses or farming,” Michelle wrote. “It’s been a beautiful journey being part of your lives.
“Thank you for the incredible memories and help us celebrate this wonderful milestone as we close down our store,” she continued. “We are hoping to see many of our favorite people over the next few weeks and know there will be a lot of laughs and tears as we share this news and remember all our adventures.”
The store is offering 20% off as part of its going out of business sale and is accepting only cash or credit cards, no checks or mobile payments.
