Many central Wisconsin residents will gather Nov. 27 to celebrate Thanksgiving with food and fun. People who may not be able to afford a full Thanksgiving meal for their family will find many local organizations willing to help fill a gap.
Here’s where you can find free Thanksgiving meals in the Stevens Point area. Please reach out to Erik Pfantz at epfantz@gannett.com if your organization offers free Thanksgiving meals, and we will add it to this list.
St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Ave., Stevens Point
Baskets are available to 400 families in need containing an unprepared Thanksgiving meal, extra food items, personal hygiene items, books, hats, mittens and socks. Recipients must call 715-310-1095 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and speak to a person to register. Voicemails will not count as registration. More information can be found on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Facebook page. Basket pickup is 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 22.
Moose Family Center 1572, 1025 N. Second St., Stevens Point
Reservations are required for Thanksgiving meals available for dine in, carryout or delivery between 10 a.m. and noon Nov. 27. Call 715-344-3224 before Nov. 21 to make a reservation. Be prepared to provide name, phone number, number of meals requested and address when calling. Available to Portage County residents. Donations of volunteer labor, desserts and turkeys are needed. St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover
A free walk-in dinner is prepared and served between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church with help from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Carryout and delivery meals are available with reservations made by calling 715-344-4326 before Nov. 20.
Donations of money, volunteer labor and desserts are accepted by the church. Donations of pies, cookies, bars or any other dessert in a non-returnable container can be dropped off Nov. 25-26 in the kitchen area of St. Bronislava Church.
