Help Kiel Dems fill wagons with food
The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” recently passed by Congress, will make it harder for Wisconsin parents, kids and older adults to get food assistance.
Specifically, the bill includes significant cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, which will cause more people to rely on food banks for assistance.
According to Feeding America, 1 in 6 Wisconsin children face hunger.
In Kiel, at least 80 families currently need assistance from the Kiel Area Community Food Pantry.
Despite this increasing need, one volunteer from the pantry recently reported they are running low on food and other items, like paper products and dish soap.
Local organizations are taking action. The Kiel Dems, a caucus of the Manitowoc County Democratic Party, will be collecting food, paper products and dish soap for the Kiel Area Community Food Pantry during the Kiel parade Aug. 10. Please take an item to the parade and help the Kiel Dems fill their wagons to the brim to fight hunger in the Kiel community. If you would like a pick-up of food or other items before the parade, please contact me at luann.lonergan@gmail.com.
