Green Bay will close out June with a heat wave.
Extreme heat is expected June 29 and 30, with heat indices expected to exceed 100 degrees.
Timm Uhlmann, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Green Bay, said the high June 29 should land around 93 degrees in the Green Bay area and dew points in the afternoon for the region will go well into the 70s. Combining those two, the heat index will rise well over 100.
But Green Bay is not likely to set a new record this time around. The record highest on this day was hit in 1931 at 100 degrees, according to the weather service.
A storm is also in the forecast to start late in the day on June 30. The storm is coming towards Green Bay from the west – Iowa and Minnesota – and will weaken when it reaches northeastern Wisconsin, but rain will fall in the evening hours.
“It is possible that we could get higher amounts, but whether or not that would hit a city and cause all the flooding, the predictability on that is pretty low,” Uhlmann said.
What is the forecast for July 4?
The heat is expected to come down in time for the holiday. The high will be back down in the mid 80s on July 4, and continue the rest of the weekend.
“It’ll basically feel like good summer weather,” Uhlmann said.
