The Democratic machine in Wisconsin went all in for David Crowley and got exactly what it wanted. Let’s hope it works.
As we proceed toward the midterms, remember, the last head-to-head poll between Francesca Hong and Tom Tiffany had them tied at 44%. Republicans will spend tens of millions on this election, and Democrats won’t be able to match them. But votes ‘trump’ campaign advertising money every time.
Come November, we lefties better cast our ballots in droves, or we’ll all be asking how we were duped into allowing the clear front runner to be pushed into second place by a scant 4,000 votes.
Wes Dickson, Franklin
Analysis and finger-pointing focusing on secondary issues
This is an observation from a moderate who has voted for both parties in past elections.
My early media exposure to Francesca Hong — as a candidate — highlighted her outstanding credit card debt of $30,000. It is critical the gubernatorial winner must capture the moderate vote from both parties.
All judgment aside, if you’re tasked with leading a biannual state budget in the billions, this is a showstopper. This issue needed to be remediated before announcing candidacy, or just sit out this cycle.
All of the analysis and finger-pointing I’m reading seems to focus on secondary issues. Am I wrong?
G.W. Hodges, Milwaukee
I hope Crowley is more than a status quo Democrat
Regarding the recent gubernatorial primary, to say I’m disappointed is an understatement.
The status quo won, but just barely. I figured the Democrats wouldn’t support Francesca Hong, so I hope David Crowley shows himself to be more than a status quo Democrat doing status quo Democratic bidding.
He better show us what he envisions and support causes that are important to us, such as data centers and the environment.
Margaret Melville, Cedarburg
