Former Wisconsin Badgers guard Daniel Freitag plans to reenter the transfer portal, according to Rivals’ Joe Tipton.
Freitag began his collegiate career in Madison in 2024-25. He appeared in 14 games but didn’t start any of them. By the end of the year, he was averaging just two minutes per game and decided he would be best suited on another team.
The Minnesota native made the move to Buffalo, where he started 22 of the 23 games this season. Freitag increased his average to 33.2 minutes per game. He finished the 2025-26 season averaging 19.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Freitag, who was just 1-for-11 with the Badgers, attempted 299 field goals with the Bulls. The former four-star recruit will now test the waters once more after his Bulls finished the season 17-15 (7-11 MAC).
The sophomore guard shot 41.1% from the field this season and knocked down 36.1% of his threes. He dropped a career-high 33 points on November 18, a total he would later match on both December 31 and January 13, 2026. Greg Gard’s former player went from never scoring more than two points in a game to being held to single digits on just three occasions.
