A Restaurant Depot store would lease around 49,200 square feet at the 157,000-square-foot building, 10330 W. Silver Spring Drive, under a proposed zoning amendment.

The Plan Commission recommended approval for that zoning change on June 30.

It also needs Common Council approval, with the Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee next meeting on July 8.

The Restaurant Depot would operate as an indoor wholesale distribution facility − similar to its location at 125 W. Becher St., in Milwaukee’s Harbor District.

The store, with 25 to 35 jobs, would sell dry groceries, fresh and frozen foods, paper and plastic products, and other equipment and supplies to restaurants in the Milwaukee area and Fox Valley, according to a presentation to the commission.

It wouldn’t be open to the public for general retail grocery shopping.

The building’s remaining space would be converted into several units to lease for other commercial tenants.

That could include a liquor store, and two quick-service restaurants, according to the commission presentation.

10330 Exceeding LLC, led by gas station and convenience store operator Anup Khullar, bought the 17-acre property in January for $3.5 million.

Walmart announced in February 2023 it was closing the store because it was not meeting financial expectations. The store opened in 2012.
