The Green Bay Packers have five picks for Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, including a pair of seventh-round picks. They could use one of those picks to target a quarterback.
A potential target with the 255th overall pick could be Aidan Bouman, who has ties to the Green Bay Packers organization. Aidan’s dad, Todd Bouman, spent a minute with the Packers serving as the backup to Brett Favre when Aaron Rodgers hurt his ankle in 20026.
Bouman, a Minnesota native, started his college career at Iowa State before transferring to the University of South Dakota in 2022. Bouman finished his career in Vermillion as the program’s all-time leader in passing yards and completions.
“My time at USD made me who I am,” Bouman said. “I matured into a confident quarterback, but more importantly, a man. I am forever indebted to that University.”
At 6-5, 218 pounds, the USD quarterback is well built. The southpaw quarterback finished this past season with 2,876 yards and 26 touchdowns.
“My greatest strength is my mental game,” Bouman said. “I take true pride in being a step ahead any chance I can get, and know that my ability to be a student of the game at all times will help me be successful.”
When looking for a backup quarterback, you want a player who’s not going to sink the ship if Jordan Love happens to go down. Bouman is a highly intelligent player who could keep Green Bay’s offense moving. The USD product is a leader and is a player who likely impressed teams during interviews throughout the process.
Bouman has played a lot of football, and one of his strengths is his football acumen. He processes things fast and gets the ball out of his hands quickly. He gets the ball out in rhythm and throws receivers open.
“I am an extremely cerebral player who can help elevate an entire offense. Getting us in the right protection against different looks and players, the right run for the right front. I can make any throw on the field. Above all, I consider myself a great leader who will do anything that’s asked of me.”
The Packers are always looking to add competition to the quarterback room. In the last three drafts, Brian Gutekunst has selected two quarterbacks on Day 3. The Packers general manager drafted Sean Clifford in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and Michael Pratt in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Both Clifford and Pratt played a ton of football. Clifford left Penn State as the program’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns, passing yard and completions. Pratt left Tulane as the program’s all-time leader in total touchdowns. Bouman checks a lot of those same boxes and could be the next Day 3 quarterback Gutekunst targets.
“I take pride in being a leader,” Bouman said. “As a quarterback, it’s a tremendous amount of responsibility that I genuinely love. I will help all 10 other guys on the field with me to become the best versions of themselves they can be. The Packers should draft me not because of what I can do individually, but what I believe I can lead our offense to do collectively.”
