Early Friday morning fire damages wood manufacturing press at Marshfield business

MARSHFIELD − A fire Oct. 10 damaged a wood press machine, product and associated equipment at a Marshfield business.

At 3:17 a.m. Oct. 10, a caller reported a water flow alarm at Forte Opening Solutions, 1401 E. Fourth St. in Marshfield. Firefighters found a fire in a wood manufacturing press, according to a fire department news release. Crews worked to extinguish the fire by stretching a fire hose into the building and used a ladder to access the top of the press and adjoining equipment.

The fire was contained to the press and a nearby panel stack machine, according to the news release. Fire crews had to remove large panels of wood product to extinguish the fire. Fire crews worked with Forte employees to ensure the fire was out in all areas of the machinery.

Operations stopped in the area of the fire. However, other areas of the plant resumed operations, according to the news release.

The Hewitt Fire Department, Arpin Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Department, Central RIT and Rehab, WE Energies and Marshfield Utilities all assisted the Marshfield Fire Department at the scene.
