Controlled barn burn in Fond du Lac County escalated to threaten other structures July 12

AUBURN – A controlled burn grew out of control in the town of Auburn on Saturday, July 12, but no injuries were reported, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

A passerby called 911 at about 9:07 p.m. for a barn on fire on Old Bridge Road. The property owner soon called the Fond du Lac County Communication Center to report the fire was a controlled burn of the barn, but the Kewaskum Fire Department and Campbellsport Ambulance had already been dispatched.

At about 9:21 p.m., both the original passerby and the property owner were among multiple 911 calls advising that the fire appeared to be out of control, escalating beyond the controlled burn and starting to threaten nearby structures.

Deputies responded alongside the Campbellsport Fire Department and Eden Fire Department because of the size of the fire. The barn itself measured approximately 40 feet by 60 feet.

No other structures were reportedly damaged.
