MARSHFIELD – On May 8, on the road against Neillsville/Granton, Shelby Spata continued her historic athletic career for Columbus Catholic by notching her 100th career hit with the program.
In Columbus Catholic’s 13th win of the season, the junior smashed her 11th home run on the year, which is one of the state’s best totals, which brought her batting total up to a whopping .717 avg.
Overall, this season, Spata has notched 33 hits, 11 HR, 41 RBI, 40 runs scored, and stolen 25 bases at 100% success.
She’s helped lead the Dons who are currently four games ahead in first place of the Cloverbelt East conference at 10-0, to a 13-1 overall record through the midway mark of the season.
Spata is a multi-sport athlete that has emerged as a major player across each of her sports for Columbus Catholic as she continues to etch her name into school record books.
In 2024, she helped lead Columbus Catholic to the school’s first-ever Division 5 WIAA state volleyball championship game appearance, where Columbus Catholic lost a four-game set to Immanuel Lutheran, but she set an all-time WIAA record for serving aces with 10, the best since the stat was first recorded in 2000.
