Cold but little snow for Milwaukee fans' drive to Packers game

Fans headed to Lambeau Field to see the Green Bay Packers take on the Philadelphia Eagles Nov. 10 should plan to bundle up.

The Monday night game is part of the Packers’ Gold season ticket package — which historically means many Milwaukee-area fans will be in attendance.

Gus Kaiser, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Green Bay, said temperatures will likely be around freezing at the 7:15 p.m. kickoff, and should drop to the mid-to-upper 20s during the game.

But while parts of southeastern Wisconsin started the week with heavy snow, the Nov. 10 game is unlikely to be affected by severe weather, Kaiser said.

“There is a chance for maybe some light snow along the I-43 corridor this afternoon, in between Green Bay and Manitowoc, but I don’t really expect there to be any real significant accumulation. Maybe up to like a half-inch or so,” Kaiser said.

The Packers’ Gold Package is a partial-season ticket package that started in 1995. From 1953 until 1994, the Packers played three games a year at Milwaukee County Stadium, which had separate season ticket packages from Lambeau Field. The start of the Gold Package allowed legacy Milwaukee-area season ticket holders to continue to see the Packers play.

While not much snow is anticipated, Packers fans traveling for the game may want to keep an eye out for some slippery areas of the road, Kaiser said.

That may be especially important on the drive home after the game. Michaela Heeren, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, said the next chance of precipitation in southeastern Wisconsin will be late Nov. 10 into early Nov. 11 morning, when there may be a few flurries.
