There was plenty of action to look back on from the past week.
Here are the top prep performers from the week of April 27-May 2 in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.
There won’t be a set number of players chosen in each sport in a given week, just including performances which stood out and deserve recognition.
This means there might be more or less than the week previous.
Another criteria is to limit selections to one player per team, per sport.

Boys track and field
William McDole, Kiel: McDole won the pole vault with a height of 11-feet even on April 28 at the Eastern Wisconsin Conference relays. Other winners included Sheboygan Falls’ Bennet Stemper in both the 110 hurdles (16.3) and 300 hurdles (43.95), Roncalli’s Owen Jensen in the high jump (5-10) and New Holstein’s John Abrams in the triple jump (39-8).
Ethan Willemsen, Sheboygan North: Willemsen was first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1 minute and 58.97 seconds on May 2 at the Brookfield Central Lancer Invitational.
Carter Culp, Sheboygan South: Culp had the longest distance in the discus (157-4) at the Kaukauna Ghosts Invite on May 1.
Elias Reed, Manitowoc Lincoln: Reed won the triple jump (38-1.5) on April 29 at the Sheboygan North quad.
Diego Cardenas, Kohler: Cardenas was first in the 100 (11.77), 200 (23.87) and 400 (52.25) on May 1 at the Kohler Glenn Funk Invite. Other winners from the area included Sheboygan Chrisitan’s Luke DeRoos (800, 2:18.72) while Ozaukee’s Jack Lentz won the shot put (50-7.5) and discus (148-1) and Sheboygan Lutheran’s Eddy Giebler was first in the 1,600 (4:42.12) and 3,200 (10:02.72).
William Taddy, Reedsville: Taddy won both the 110 hurdles (16.39) and 300 hurdles (44.06) at the D3 Elite Meet in Mishicot on May 1. Other area winners included Howards Grove’s Odin Schulz in the 200 (23.14) and 400 (50.57) and Mishicot’s Greyson Armbruster who was first in the 800 (2:16.54).
Tristan Hulse, Manitowoc Lutheran: Hulse swept both the shot put (46-10) and discus (131-9) at the Brillion Sting Cancer Invite on May 1.
Simon Horzen, Oostburg: Horzen won the 110 hurdles (15.47) and 300 hurdles (43.11) at the Big East four team meet on April 30. Random Lake’s Raul Cruz (1,600, 5:26.6) was also victorious.
Abram Brill, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Brill was first in the pole vault (9-6) at the Big East South mini meet on April 27.
Cole Bunke, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah: Bunke won the discus (144-2) at the Big East North mini meet on April 27.
Girls track and field
Madeline Gilson, Sheboygan North: Gilson was first in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet and 4 inches on April 29 at the Sheboygan North quad.
Aliyah Arnold, Plymouth: Arnold won the triple jump (33-10) on May 1 at the Kimberly ‘Gil Frank’ Invite.
Jenna Dirks, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah: Dirks swept the throws on May 1 at the Kohler Glenn Funk Invite, winning the shot put (40-5) and discus (119-0). Also winning a pair of events was Kohler’s Lillian Pociask in the 1,600 (5:27.10) and 3,200 (11:42.44).
Allena O’Connell, Reedsville: At the D3 Elite Meet in Mishicot on May 1, O’Connell won the 1,600 (5:18.19) and 3,200 (11:37.04). Other winners from the area were Valders’ Paige Backus (400, 1:01.23), Mishicot’s Kensington Rosenow (100, 13.32) and Howards Grove’s Ashlyn Miller (800, 2:31.50).
Evalyn Schafer, Kiel: Schafer won the 1,600 (5:41.60) and 3,200 (12:09.13) on May 1 at the Brillion Sting Cancer Invite.
Maeve Dieringer, Random Lake: Dieringer was first in the triple jump (34-4) on April 30 at the Big East four team meet while Oostburg’s Mylee Knez (long jump, 12-4) was also victorious.
Brynlee Schmidt, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Schmidt won the 1,600 (5:40.72) at the Big East South mini meet on April 27. Other area winners included Ozaukee’s Lilia Steinert in the high jump (4-4) and Sheboygan Christian’s Emma Handziak in the triple jump (29-2).
Nora Halverson, Sheboygan Falls: At the Eastern Wisconsin Conference relays on April 28, Halverson was first in the long jump (18-2) and triple jump (34-11) while Two Rivers’ Julia Mott won the discus (31-11.75).
Baseball
Jake Hillmer, Roncalli: Hillmer was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, a double and a home run on April 28 in a 12-2 win over Howards Grove in five innings.
Bentley Henrickson, Manitowoc Lincoln: Henrickson went 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run in the fifth inning of the Ships 7-2 win against Plymouth.
Aidan Schmahl, Sheboygan Falls: Schmahl went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two walks in an 11-1 win in five innings over Augustine Prep on April 28.
Josh Anzia, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Anzia drove in five runs and was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored in a 24-2 victory against Kohler/Christian on April 28.
Reed Traas, Random Lake: Traas was 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs on April 28 in a 14-6 win over Ozaukee. Leading Ozaukee was Aiden Acevado with three RBIs while going 2-for-4 at the plate.
Nate Christensen, Reedsville: Christensen was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs on April 28 in a 11-7 loss to St. Mary Catholic.
Softball
Cora Kroeplien, Sheboygan Falls: Kroeplien was 4-for-4 with three RBIs including the game-winning RBI with two outs in the top of the eighth inning on April 28 in a 7-6 victory against Valders. She also earned the win in the circle, tossing five shutout innings of relief. Valders was led by Kyra Kocian who went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Eva Boness, Mishicot: Boness was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs in a 16-2 win in six innings over Hilbert on April 30.
Bri Donner, Plymouth: Donner went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a triple and three RBIs on April 28 in a 10-6 win against West Bend West.
Brynn DePagter, Oostburg: DePagter struck out 10 batters and surrendered two hits and two earned runs on April 28 in a 15-2 victory in five innings over Sheboygan Lutheran.
Delaney Maranell, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah: Maranell went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on April 30 in an 11-1 win in six innings against Manitowoc Lutheran.
Girls soccer
Taylor Teunissen, Oostburg: Teunissen scored a pair of goals on April 30 in a 5-0 win over St. Mary Catholic.
Taavi Saeger, Kiel: Saeger scored four goals on April 30 in a 12-0 win against Roncalli/Two Rivers.
Reese Kunesh, Howards Grove: Kunesh had two goals in a 5-1 victory over St. Mary Catholci on April 28.
Keeran Blattner, Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian: Blattner had four goals and two assists on April 28 in a 7-0 win against Manitowoc Lutheran.
Gracie Schmidt, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Schmidt found the back of the net four times in a 13-0 win over Kewaunee.
Mya Schroeder, Ozaukee/Random Lake: Schroeder notched a hat trick on April 30 in a 4-0 victory against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.
Boys tennis
Preston Chen, Kohler: Chen won his No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 on May 1 in a 7-0 sweep of Port Washington.
