Claire Weber of Catholic Memorial girls soccer was the winner of last week’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel high school Piggly Wiggly athlete of the week poll for June 16 through June 21.
The sophomore was sensational in CMH’s two victories at the WIAA Division 3 state girls soccer tournament against West Salem (one goal) and in a 4-2 title match victory over Edgewood (one goal, three assists) where she played a part in all four Crusaders goals. The title was a record 12th for CMH as a WIAA member and the 15th in program history dating back to the WISAA days.
Weber received 3,610 of 6,385 total votes cast in last week’s poll.
Tim Falk from Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic baseball was the runner-up in last week’s poll after he tallied four hits in two state tournament victories for the Lancers on their way to the Division 3 state title, including the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom half of the sixth inning in KSJ’s 3-2 victory over Kewaunee in the title game.
Other nominees last week included Sam Hirthe of New Berlin Eisenhower baseball, Klara Muench of Muskego girls soccer and Alexandra Rossi of Brookfield Central girls soccer.
