Authorities have identified the 71-year-old woman who was killed July 25 in a Door County crash as Thonglo Nonarath of Green Bay.
Nonarath was a passenger in a Tesla truck that was involved in a crash at the intersection of State 42 and County P around 9:53 p.m. in the town of Sevastopol.
According to a GoFundMe by Aleena Boncher, she said her mother and dad, Lora and Jason Boncher, her grandparents, Khamta and Thonglo Nonarath, and herself were all in “a horrible car accident.”
“I am lucky to be alive, standing, and to only have some scrapes and bruises,” she wrote. “The rest of my family was not so lucky and needs intense medical care.”
Boncher wrote her father and grandfather were still in the ICU as of July 29.
According to the sheriff’s office, the truck, being driven by a 43-year-old Green Bay man, was southbound on State 42, passing several other vehicles, when it struck an SUV driven by a 22-year-old Sturgeon Bay man who was attempting to turn left at the intersection.
The Tesla driver and three passengers were taken to the Door County Medical Center, while the driver of the SUV received medical attention but was not transported. Thonglo Nonarath was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office said an autopsy on Nonarath was conducted July 29 at the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office, with the results still pending.
This incident remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said July 29.
