An Amber Alert issued in connection with a missing 8-year-old girl has been canceled after the girl was found in Nebraska.
The man authorities were looking for, Joseph Nicpon, 44, was arrested, Wautoma police said.
Nicpon, a convicted sex offender on supervised release, took off his GPS tracking bracelet in Adams County, Wautoma police said in a statement. Nicpon was released from prison March 31. He was convicted of incest with a child and fourth-degree sexual assault.
Police believed the 8-year-old girl may have been in the company of Nicpon and Betty Lentz, 34. Nicpon was prohibited from contacting Lentz and the child, police said. Investigators believed the three may have fled the state.
The girl was found by Nebraska State Patrol, Wautoma police said.
