The Common Council voted 7-3 to approve a land sale Jan. 19 with Amazon for about 58 acres of land in the SouthPointe Enterprise Campus, where the company plans to build a roughly 216,000-square-foot delivery station.

This facility would be the “last mile” for Amazon’s delivery operations, where packages will be stored for less than 24 hours before they are delivered to areas within a 45- to 60-minute radius.

The delivery station could employee 150 to 200 full-time employees, according to an Amazon representative who spoke at the meeting. The project could break ground in the summer.

Affordable Gateway Apartments now leasing

Gateway Apartments, a 44-unit affordable apartment building at 1224 Erie Ave., is now leasing for income-qualified individuals.

The apartment complex is a project from Partners for Community Development, and has four three-bedroom units, four two-bedroom units and 36 one-bedroom units. The building also has laundry facilities, a fitness room and a community room for on-site services.

Apartments are geared toward individuals and families making 30% to 60% of the area median income.

Sartori Cheese facility undergoing an expansion

Sartori Cheese’s whey converting facility, 4200 County PP in Plymouth, is undergoing a roughly 68,000-square-foot expansion.

The expansion will add more converting and packaging lines, and construction could finish by spring 2027.

The facility underwent a roughly 22,000-square-foot expansion in 2021 to support converting and packaging operations.
