Alabama star wide receiver Ryan Williams is expected to play on Saturday against the Wisconsin Badgers, according to Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Williams was on the sideline during Alabama’s Week 2 win over UL-Monroe. He previously left the team’s Week 1 contest against Florida State with a concussion. The 2024 First-Team All-SEC receiver had five catches for 30 yards at the time of his injury.
Williams was a popular preseason All-American pick entering the 2025 campaign after breaking onto the scene as a freshman in 2024. He finished with 865 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Notably, he turned four receptions into 78 yards and a score in the Crimson Tide’s 42-10 win over Wisconsin in Week 3.
Wisconsin’s defensive game plan on Saturday should focus on the sophomore wideout. The Badgers’ run defense has excelled against inferior competition through two weeks, allowing just 33.5 yards per game and 1.3 yards per carry. If that remains a strength on Saturday against the No. 19-ranked Crimson Tide, the threat of Williams on the outside will be Alabama’s key to opening up the game.
DeBoer also said Wednesday that Crimson Tide starting running back Jam Miller is considered a game-time decision. His availability will be worth watching before Saturday’s noon ET, 11 a.m. kickoff.
