Girls soccer regional champions have been named and the WIAA girls soccer tournament is onto sectionals.
There are two Oshkosh, Fond du Lac area teams still playing, just two wins from making it to the state tournament.
Sectional semifinal games will be played on Thursday, June 11, and sectional championships will take place on Saturday, June 13. The state tournament will be held at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee from June 18 – June 20.
Here’s a look at how Winneconne and Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian made it to sectionals and their path to the state tournament.
Division 3
Winneconne
Winneconne is a No. 3 seed and defeated No. 14 Marinette 12-0 after a first round bye. In the regional championship, Winneconne beat No. 6 Seymour 3-0.
In its sectional semifinal game, Winneconne will play at No. 2 Notre Dame. The winner would move on and play No. 1 Kiel or No. 5 Luxemburg-Casco in the sectional championship at 1 p.m. at Notre Dame’s Stock Family Stadium.
Division 4
Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian
Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian, a No. 4 seed started its postseason with a 5-0 win over Omro. It followed that up with a 2-1 win over No. 5 Sturgeon Bay in the regional championship.
In the sectional semifinals, Lourdes Academy will play at No. 1 Xavier. The winner will move onto the sectional championship and play No. 2 Howards Grove or No. 3 Providence Academy/Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran at 1 p.m. at Xavier.
