FOND DU LAC – Community members calling in suspicious activity plays a critical role in crime prevention, including two arrests for thefts from cars, the Fond du Lac Police Department said on Facebook Tuesday evening.
A Fond du Lac resident called the department at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, after spotting two individuals inside the resident’s vehicle on East Merrill Avenue. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived.
Within less than half an hour, officers found both 18-year-old suspects: one during a traffic stop and the other walking near Rosenow Elementary School. Both are from Fond du Lac and were arrested without incident on suspicion of charges of theft, obstructing, bail jumping and prowling, as well as a probation violation for one of them.
“This incident underscores the critical role our community plays in crime prevention — when you see suspicious activity, call it in immediately,” the Facebook post reads. “Your quick action can help us identify suspects, make arrests, and protect our neighborhoods.”
Residents are advised to call 911 for emergencies, and the Fond du Lac Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch number is 920-906-5555. Additionally, the Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement tip line is 920-906-4777 and can be used anonymously.
