Members of the Wichita Falls Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will discuss University Town Center, the property formerly known as Sikes Senter, when they meet Thursday.
The meeting will be at 2:30 p.m. in Room 6 of the MPEC, 1000 Fifth Street. It is open to the public but will not be livestreamed.
The EDC purchased the 50-year-old mall from New York owners for $27.5 million in October 2025 with $18 million of that amount coming from a loan from American National Bank & Trust.
The announced intention was to sell the property for demolition and redevelopment.
Moriah Williams, CEO of Forward Wichita Falls, said Thursday’s meeting will not be an announcement of a buyer, but will be to “go over some updates and where we are on the project.” She has previously said a buyer would likely be announced late this summer.
Forward Wichita Falls, a nonprofit, is acting as agent for the property.
The mall property is scheduled to be discussed in both open and closed-door sessions.
Also on the agenda is consideration of an incentive package for Wichita Falls Manufacturing, Inc. for $128,000. The company, located at 2000 Old Burk Highway, specializes in manufacture of cementing plugs and other oilfield-related products.
The EDC gets its money to incentivize businesses primarily from a portion of the sales tax collected in Wichita Falls.
