Texas A&M baseball is officially back in the postseason, and while the Aggies earned the right to host a regional, the path forward is anything but easy, especially with the well‑documented issues on the mound. It’s a stark contrast from this time last year, when the Aggies were sitting at home and second‑year head coach Michael Earley was firmly on the hot seat after a disappointing 2025 campaign that began with preseason No. 1 expectations.
But the past is the past, and this season has been a different story. Earley’s squad was a few healthy arms away from legitimately pushing Georgia for the SEC regular‑season title. Despite navigating a revolving door of injuries and playing only a handful of games with a fully healthy lineup, the Aggies still finished third in the SEC and secured the right to host. Given the circumstances, that alone is a major accomplishment.
No one in Aggieland is pretending this weekend will be a walk in the park. With the pitching staff stretched thin, it wouldn’t be shocking to see A&M pushed to the brink. But if the starting rotation can give them length, something that has been hit‑or‑miss down the stretch, A&M will put itself in a prime position to advance to the Super Regional round.
Game 1 of the Bryan‑College Station Regional is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Blue Bell Park, with coverage on the SEC Network.
