A year after release from Pensacola prison, Todd Chrisley back to TV stardom

If anyone though Todd and Julie Chrisley might have lost some of their luster after two years behinds bars, rest assured the two television stars are still shining bright.

In 2022, the Chrisleys were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, turning themselves in to prison in January 2023. Their daughter, “Chrisley Knows Best” co-star Savannah Chrisley, lobbied for her parents’ release. Her plea reached the Oval Office, and on May 28, 2025, President Donald Trump, also a former reality TV star, granted the “According to Chrisley” stars a full pardon.

A day after the Trump pardon, the couple was released from their respective prisons in Florida and Kentucky, and returned home to Nashville, Tennessee. In fall 2025, they were back on the air with a new series, “Chrisleys: Back to Reality.” Additionally, Savannah and Julie Chrisley are poised to be part of a new series, “Reality Retreat” on Amazon Prime Video.

“It’s amazing that those that walked away from you are the first ones knocking at the door again,” Todd Chrisley told Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law weeks after their release on her Fox News Channel show “My View with Lara Trump.”

Before his pardon, Todd Chrisley was incarcerated in Pensacola

Reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley were found guilty in June 2022 of tax evasion and defrauding community banks of more than $30 million through fraudulent loans that funded their luxurious lifestyle.

Julie Chrisley was additionally convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud. She was originally set to serve her time in the federal prison camp in Marianna, Florida, about two-and-a-half hours away from Pensacola. For reasons unknown,Julie Chrisley was reassigned from the Florida prison to a federal medical center in Kentucky.

In 2023, Todd Chrisley started serving time at FPC Pensacola, a minimum security male prison located on Saufley Field.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) announced in December 2024 that it would permanently close multiple federal prisons across the country, including FPC Pensacola, due to “critical staffing shortage, crumbling infrastructure, and limited budgetary resources,” according to the Associate Press. In a release sent to the News Journal, FBOP said FPC Pensacola would be deactivated as a prison to “maximize resources and mitigate safety concerns.”

On May 28, 2025, two years after the Chrisleys turned themselves in, President Donald Trump issued them a full pardon. They were released from FMC Lexington in Kentucky and FPC Pensacola, respectively, the next day.

They began making media appearances not long after.

On June 28, 2025, Todd and Julie Chrisley, along with their children Savannah Chrisley and Grayson Chrisley, appeared on “My View with Lara Trump” on Fox News Channel in their first TV interview since they turned themselves in to prison in January 2023.

The next day the Chrisleys were featured in another post-prison interview on ABC News Studios’ “IMPACT x Nightline” 100th episode and season three finale of “Life After Lockup.”
