What are the Houston Rockets' chances to make the playoffs?

After a fifth-place finish and a 52-win campaign last year, the Houston Rockets are likely to make another playoff run again during the 2026-27 season.

Following the additions of Marcus Smart, Bogdan Bogdanovic and recent No. 31 overall pick Bruce Thornton, the Rockets have reinforcements coming in many areas. Fred VanVleet is expected to be back after missing the entire 2025-26 season, while Steven Adams is also likely to make a full recovery.

For these reasons, Houston is certainly in the mix for one of the top seeds in the Western Conference. According to prediction market Kalshi, the Rockets have an 87% chance to make the playoffs. This gives them the seventh-best odds overall and the fifth-best odds in the Western Conference. That said, both the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are within 3% of Houston.

Unsurprisingly, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs lead the way at 99%.
