The Dallas Cowboys continue in their quest to find the right prospects to join their team for 2026 and beyond.
As the NFL Draft draws closer, now less than two weeks away, the club continues to meet with their 30 alloted visitors and it’s helping to define exactly what they are looking for. Much like free agency, the focus appears to be on the secondary. The Cowboys already have 16 defensive backs on their roster after adding six new names, and they are apparently considering options at every level of the draft.
With 21 of the 30 visitors now named publicly, along with their contingent of local prospects brought into The Star for Dallas Day, there is a clear attempt to get new defensive coordinator Christian Parker talent on the back end. 14 of the so-far 36 draft visitors (national, local) are defensive backs.
Interestingly the Cowboys have reached the number of known named from 2025. Only 21 of the 30 names became public last draft season, so it will be interesting to see if any additional.
Teams have two methods for official visits to their facility. Each org can have up to 30 national visits, one-on-one excursions where the prospects tour the facilities, meet the coaching staff and go through an agenda that lasts several hours.
Then there’s a local prospect group activity, known as Dallas Day for the Cowboys. Prospects originally from a team’s area, or who attended school in the area, can come into the facility as a group for closer inspection. TCU, SMU, North Texas count for college, and every fan knows the bevy of high school talent that emerges from the area.
So here, we’ll try to keep track of the names of prospects who speak to being part of the festivities.
