Texas Tech’s Spirit Program won not one, but two, national cheer championships on Friday at the National Cheerleaders Association’s (NCA) College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. The large co-ed squad’s first-place finish in their division marked the second straight year Texas Tech has won the NCA Advanced Large Coed Division 1A, according to a news release. Texas Tech scored 94.225 to top the University of Louisville (93.775) and Oklahoma State University (93.5042). The small co-ed squad also finished in first place in the NCA Advanced Small Coed Division 1A – for the third consecutive year. Texas Tech’s 93.3167 bested Kennesaw State University (91.9875) and Brigham Young University (89.6333).
The Grand Championship Competition runs through Saturday afternoon.
