Former Texas A&M star crushes first Triple-A grand slam after slump

Professional baseball moves fast, with games played nearly every day, so when a player gets hot, their name starts showing up everywhere. One of those players is former Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery, who added another major milestone this week as he continues to prove that a call-up to the majors may be closer than ever.

To be fair, Montgomery did hit a rough patch recently, enduring a five-game hitless streak that dropped his average from .283 to .233 with seven strikeouts. But what separates good players from great ones is how they respond to adversity and Montgomery responded in a big way on Thursday night.

With the game tied in the bottom of the fourth and the bases loaded, Montgomery hammered a first‑pitch changeup over the left-field wall for his first Triple-A grand slam. The blast gave the Charlotte Knights a 9–5 lead, marked his third Triple-A home run, and set the tone for an eventual 12–5 victory. He finished the night 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Montgomery is clearly on the brink of an MLB call-up, and with just a bit more consistency, that moment could arrive sooner rather than later. Below, you can watch the grand slam.
