During the first two weeks of the college baseball season, the Texas Longhorns have been one of the best teams in the nation. They have been led by a potent offense and pitching staff that, at times, has looked unstoppable. While the Longhorns’ success has been a team effort, one player who has stood out is Aiden Robbins. The Longhorns outfielder has earned national praise for his play.
On Tuesday, Baseball America revealed its Week 2 College Team of the Week, and Robbins made the cut. In four games last week, the Longhorns’ star had five hits in 17 at-bats while making history. On Saturday, he became the first Texas player to hit for the cycle in ten years. That milestone earned Robbins a place among the nation’s best players.
The honor for Robbins comes as no surprise given how good he has been this year. Through 31 at-bats this season, the Pennsylvania native has posted a .419 batting average and driven in 11 runs. Through his first month as a Longhorn, Robbins provided the offense with a boost while showing off some power.
Currently, the former Seton Hall star has three doubles and three home runs. He also has one triple and has been a hits machine regardless of who has been on the mound. That has been a good sign for Texas who made Robbins a priority in the transfer portal.
After a career year, Robbins is showing no signs of slowing down. He leads the Longhorns in RBI and is tied for the team lead in home runs. The Holy Ghost Alum also tied for second in doubles and is showing no signs of slowing down. For a Longhorns team with national title aspirations, Robbins is fitting in perfectly.
With the regular season far from over, Robbins has plenty of time to build on his success. If he can continue to show that last season was no fluke more accolades will be on the horizon.
