Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning removed from injury list, will start against Vanderbilt

It looks like Arch Manning will be under center when the Texas Longhorns return home to Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium to face the Vanderbilt Commodores. Manning, who has been in the concussion protocol all week, has been removed from Texas’ official SEC injury list.

In fact, the only Texas Longhorn on the injury list is safety Michael Taaffe, who has been downgraded to doubtful. Manning has been working through the steps and tests of the concussion protocol this week.

The redshirt sophomore QB suffered a concussion in last week’s thrilling overtime win at Mississippi State. Manning left the game after the first play in OT when his helmet bounced off the ground at the end of a 13-yard run. A visibly woozy Manning was helped off the field and taken directly to the on-field medical tent for evaluation, where he remained for the rest of the game.

The hit ended a career-high performance for Manning, finishing 29 of 46 passing for a career-best 346 yards, three touchdowns and one interception along with a rushing TD.

The Vandy game is a must-win for the Longhorns if they have any hopes of going to the college football playoff. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT at DKR.
