Texas A&M (21-11, 11-7 SEC) couldn’t get past the red-hot Oklahoma Sooners in the second round of the SEC Tournament, and while the Aggies were likely fatigued after Saturday’s 3 OT win over LSU, the offense was dreadful, producing one of its lowest scoring totals after falling 83-63 on Thursday night. This game, one paper at least, was much more meaningful for Oklahoma than Texas A&M.
Going into Thursday’s game, Texas A&M was safely in the NCAA Tournament field in every major bracket prediction, while the Sooners had, and still have, work to do, likely needing two or more wins to have a shot at making March Madness. Again, this poor performance shouldn’t worry Aggie fans who feel this could affect the program’s postseason standing, as a 10-seed, which is actually more favorable, is now the widespread prediction.
Tied with senior guard Rylan Griffen’s 13 points, star forward Rashaun Agee netted his 13th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, which broke the single-season record at Texas A&M, which isn’t just impressive, but unsurprising given the USC transfer’s elite play throughout his only season in College Station.
Agee finished the 2025-2026 regular season leading the Aggies with 14.7 points per game, 8.9 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks, while his 26.8 minutes per game also led the veteran roster made up of offseason transfer additions. For Texas A&M to have any shot at making it past the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Agee will need to thrive in the paint and hit his open three-point shots.
Texas A&M will now wait and see where they will play next week during Selection Sunday.
