Entering his third season at the helm, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has proven his ability to match former head coach Jimbo Fisher’s recruiting success, landing multiple top 10-ranked cycles since taking over before the 2024 season, and has continued to thrive this offseason with 14 commitments in the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle.
After landing five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews last Friday, Texas A&M has built substantial momentum before the first official visit weekend at the end of the month, and has now received a prediction to land its first tight end commitment in the 2027 cycle. According to On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong, Texas A&M is now the favorite to land rising three-star tight end Holden Niemi.
After visiting the Aggies for an unofficial visit this spring, Niemi, who is widely regarded as one of the playmaking tight ends, has already received offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Indiana, while new Texas A&M TE coach Derek Shay is looking to secure his first commit since taking over the position early in the offseason.
Standing 6’5″ and 225 pounds, Hollden Niemi played both ways at Dexter (MI), reeling in 794 yards and 11 touchdowns, combined with 10 tackles and five sacks during his 2025 junior campaign. NIemi is currently positioned as Rivals’ 38th-ranked tight end in the 2027 class.
