After landing three more commitments in the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff will once again host a talented list of priority prospects in the 2027 cycle, including the return of five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who will take his official visit this weekend, starting on Friday.
After hosting five-star cornerback John Meredith this past weekend, the Aggies made significant progress, but fully understand that the Texas Longhorns, who will host Meredith this weekend, may hold a slight advantage, placing more importance on securing Joshua Dobson’s commitment, which could come to fruition after this weekend’s OV.
Over the past two months, Dobson has kept the same tune regarding his relationship with Mike Elko, favoring the third-year head coach’s development plan, and after landing former five-star CB Brandon Arrington in the 2026 signing class, landing elite talent at one of the most important positions has yet to be an issue during his tenure.
For Elko, competition is everything, and one of the driving forces behind his budding relationship with Dobson, who, speaking with On3 insider Chad Simmons, stated that the general message from the Aggie staff has not wavered.
“They are making me feel wanted,” Dobson stated. “Their message is come in and earn your spot, and I wouldn’t want it any other way for myself.”
Yes, in a perfect world, landing John Meredith and Joshua Dobson would be a historic haul, but it most likely comes down to one of the two, and based on a handful of interviews, Mike Elko would be more than happy to secure either player.
