This weekend, 2027 five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson made his way back to College Station for his official visit just a week after fellow five-star corner John Meredith took his OV, and according to sources, this could be the final piece to his recruitment puzzle, possibly leading to Dobson committing to the Aggies in the coming days/weeks.
For those who have been paying attention, Texas A&M has been the leader in Dobson’s recruitment over the past two months, and even though On3 insider Steve Wiltfong stated that the Aggies are slightly leading for John Meredith after his OV, I would be shocked if coach Mike Elko earns commitments from both blue-chip prospects.
After Meredith’s OV to Texas this weekend, it’s hard to tell where the Aggies stand right now, but concerning Dobson, AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings’ recent interview with the five-star defensive back revealed that his final talk with the staff, especially Mike Elko, makes Texas A&M the top destination he’ll consider before announcing his commitment decision.
“I’d definitely say yeah, they’re at the top,” Dobson replied to Hastings’ question. “It’s definitely Elko’s big push. He’s a defensive-minded head coach. I know he’s going to take care of me and I know I’m going to be developed there and be great if I go there.”
If this isn’t a good indication that Texas A&M is close to gaining Dobson’s commitment, I don’t know what is, and after stating that the Aggies have “set the bar” during his recruitment, it’s going to be tough for LSU and Michigan to outdo what Elko and his staff have accomplished this weekend.
