After a bruising Saturday doubleheader, Texas A&M needed a response on Sunday and delivered one. The Aggies’ 4–3 win over Auburn didn’t erase the series loss, but in a conference where every result matters, it was the exact stabilizer Michael Earley wanted.
There are no easy weekends in the SEC, and dropping their first series in months forced A&M to show the resilience that has defined much of their season. Earley said the message was simple – grab the wins whenever they’re available.
“We need to keep grabbing them. We talk about it all the time like, yes, there’s a series for sure. We did not win the series at home. We always want to do that, but it’s just grabbing one of those 30 wins when you can. I mean, we had to grab one today.”
No one grabbed the moment more than Chris Hacopian, who continues to produce despite nursing an injury. His three‑run homer provided the necessary cushion, and he emphasized the team impact more than the swing itself.
“Yeah, I mean it’s a good feeling. I mean honestly the biggest part is that I got to score three runs in that moment for the team and uh yeah that was ended up being a big swing for the game. I’m just thankful all that worked out.”
On the mound, Weston Moss delivered exactly what A&M needed in his second Sunday start since being shifted out of the Saturday role. What some pitchers might view as a demotion, Moss treated as another competitive challenge.
“You know, I, you know, I’m enjoying it. I like the position I’m in. I think towing the rubber, no matter what day is, you know, the same. So, I just don’t think much about it. Compete.”
A&M held off Auburn late to secure the win and avoid a sweep, keeping themselves firmly in the SEC race with critical series still ahead.
