Texas A&M has been in contact with Jacksonville State transfer guard

Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan is entering his first full offseason after his inaugural campaign ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and after losing several starters due to expired eligibility, combined with reserve guard Josh Holloway and Spanish sharpshooter Rubén Dominguez to the transfer portal, McMillan and his staff are hard at work rebuilding the roster.

Since the 2026 college basketball transfer portal opened on Tuesday, Dominguez has officially transferred to Xavier, while senior forward Zach Clemence announced his return for a final season with the Aggies. However, Friday’s massive news regarding Kansas State transfer point guard PJ Haggerty committing to Texas A&M completely changed the coaching staff’s strategy.

Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game last season, checks off every box as the next star guard who can take over a game when needed, while the Aggies can now focus on building around the veteran and have already contacted a long list of transfer guards and big men, focused on filling out the starting lineup and bench.

On Sunday, it was revealed that Charleston center Chol Macot has been contacted by the Aggie staff, and just hours later, college basketball insider Sam Kayser confirmed that the Aggies have also contacted Jacksonville State transfer guard Jaye Nash, who averaged 5.1 points, 4 assists, and show 30% from the field last season.

Seen as a depth piece and a solid fit in McMillan’s fast-paced scheme, these are the types of potential acquisitions that help fill out a roster, while Nash’s potential after two seasons is notable.
