Texas A&M guard Marcus Hill intends to petition the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility and said, “I love Aggieland, so I’m really hoping I can get it.”
Hill had a strong senior season, starting in 28 of his 32 games and posting a solid stat line of 10.8 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.6 APG, and 1.0 STL in 23 minutes of action a night. Head Coach Bucky McMillan’s aggressive philosophy generates a plethora of offensive highlights on account of the team’s fast pace, but Hill is the defensive stalwart who allows the Aggies to operate as they do.
Hill entered the realm of collegiate basketball in 2021-22 at a junior college, where he developed for two years before transferring to Bowling Green. He thrived in the MAC, dropping over 20 PPG in an absurd 36.3 minutes a night.
In his fourth year following his high school graduation – what some would dub his senior year – Hill transferred to NC State, where he proved that he belonged at the highest levels of the collegiate game. He impressed so much that McMillan, who entered Aggieland with just one returning player from last season, brought him on as a starting guard for his first Texas A&M squad.
If granted an extra year of eligibility, Hill would be a critical piece of an Aggie rotation that needs someone of his skillset: a hard-working, defensive-minded, slashing two guard.
Hill and his team will now face 2-seed Houston with a chance to advance to the Sweet 16 on Saturday afternoon.
