Texas A&M Edge delivers three-sack surge in win over Utah State

Three for three sounds like a meal deal from your local eatery, but on Saturday, it had a whole different meaning with Texas A&M DL Cashius Howell serving up pass rush moves.

Where quarterback pressures would come from was a critical question after the team lost three veteran starters to the NFL following last season. One name that was high on everyone’s list was redshirt senior Cashius Howell, who flashed in his opportunities in 2024. In a reserve role, he logged 40 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, four sacks, and an interception.

Heading into the 2025 season, A&M knew they needed a few players to step up, and we got our first glimpse of what Howell could do in a full-time role. During the second quarter against Utah State, Howell achieved something that hadn’t been done in a decade. He was a one-man wrecking crew with three consecutive sacks, deflating any momentum Utah State had gained.

Who knows how many sacks he could have logged if he had played the whole game, but with a comfortable lead as the game went along, there was no need to risk injury. For your viewing pleasure, below are the three sacks by Howell.
