Texas A&M completes SEC sweep with wild 10–9 win over Ole Miss

Texas A&M softball completed its second SEC sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon, outlasting Ole Miss in a wild 10–9 finale in Oxford. With the victory, the Aggies improved to 11–4 in conference play and extended their winning streak to five games.

The series was a grind from start to finish, with A&M forced to fend off late Rebel rallies in all three matchups. Pitching was inconsistent at times, but the Aggies repeatedly delivered in high‑leverage moments to escape the weekend unscathed.

After a scoreless first inning, A&M struck first when freshman Maddie Sauni singled home Ariel Kowalewski. Ole Miss answered with a solo homer in the second to tie the game, but the Aggies quickly regained control. In the third, shortstop KK Dement launched a grand slam to put A&M ahead 5–1.

The game exploded in the middle innings. Dement homered again in the fifth, her second of the day, to drive in Kelsey Mathis and extend the lead to 7–1. But Ole Miss stormed back with a five‑run inning to cut the deficit to 7–6.

Texas A&M responded immediately. Home run leader Micaela Wark crushed her 17th homer of the season, a three‑run shot that pushed the lead to 10–6. Ole Miss plated two more in the bottom half and held the Aggies scoreless in the seventh, setting up a tense finish.

Clinging to a 10–8 lead, A&M watched the Rebels open the final frame with two singles and a wild pitch to put runners on the corners with no outs. After a pop‑up, Ole Miss singled again to make it 10–9 and put the winning run on first.

Once again, the Aggies turned to Sidne Peters, and she delivered. The veteran right‑hander struck out back‑to‑back hitters to slam the door and secure the sweep.

Texas A&M will stay on the road for a midweek match-up against Baylor on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. CST. The game can be viewed on ESPN+ and the ESPN App.
