A man was taken into custody by agents with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission who were outside an El Paso bar when a shooting took place over the Labor Day weekend.
TABC agents were outside at about 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, when they saw a fight break out in the patio area of the Tipsy Tiger at 11380 Montwood Drive in the far East Side, a TABC news release stated.
During the fight, one person took out a firearm and fired. Two people were injured, including one who was taken to a hospital in undisclosed condition, TABC stated.
The suspected shooter, identified as 26-year-old Trevion Kimbrough, fled on foot, but was apprehended by TABC agents about a half block away from the bar and held until El Paso police arrived. Kimbrough faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, TABC stated.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the agents whose quick thinking and decisive actions undoubtedly prevented this incident from spiraling into more serious injuries or loss of life,” TABC Executive Director Thomas Graham said in a statement. “I’m grateful to our El Paso enforcement team and our local law enforcement partners.”
The case remains under investigation by the El Paso Police Department and TABC.
The El Paso Police Department has yet to release additional information on the case.
