Another lackluster performance from Texas A&M’s bullpen opened the door for USC, and the Trojans kicked it down by handing the Aggies a 14-3 loss in the College Station Regional Final.
While the team’s aspirations to reach their 11th super regional remain intact, the visitors are not going away quietly. USC’s win over Texas A&M forced a winner-take-all, win-or-go-home contest Monday, setting the stage for some massive decisions for head coach Michael Earley. Right-handed pitcher Aiden Sims is out for the rest of the season with an injury, which means someone must step up to provide consistency on the mound.
Weston Moss had a career outing against Texas State on Saturday, but his lengthy performance could put him on a pitch count if he gets the start. While the pitching woes continued against the Trojans, Texas A&M’s lineup also struggled to produce and keep pace with USC’s offensive output.
Next up, the Aggies will face the Trojans, with the winner heading to the super regionals. The game is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
