Shark Week — one of the most anticipated television events ever — is back.
Shark Week debuted on the Discovery Channel with “Dancing with the Sharks” on July 20 and ends with “Battle for Shark Mountain” on Saturday, July 26, with lots of thrilling programming in between.
Shark Week began in 1988 and originated as an idea scribbled on a napkin, discussed among employees of the Discovery Channel, The Atlantic reported. It became a ratings hit, in part, due to movies such as “Jaws,” which piqued interest in and fear of sharks.
