See who won, who faces a runoff in the Texas Republican primary races

All ballots have been counted, and the official Election Day results are in for the statewide Texas Republican Primary races.

On Friday, the Texas Secretary of State released the official election results after local and state officials canvased and certified the results.

This means it’s official who has secured enough votes to become the Republican nominee in their race to advance to the November 2026 General Election and who is headed to a runoff.

Here’s a look at the results.

Cornyn, Paxton to face off in U.S. Senate Republican primary runoff race

No candidate was able to secure the coveted 50% of the vote plus one to avoid a runoff in the GOP U.S. Senate primary race.

That means incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn — with 41.89% of the vote — and Texas AG Ken Paxton — with 40.68% — will vie for the Republican nomination in May.

GOP candidates Wesley Hunt, Sara Canady, Anna Bender and Gulrez Khan were defeated in the primary.

Republican nominees for governor, Lt. governor and comptroler races

In the Texas gubernatorial and lieutenant governor races, the incumbents prevailed after each defeating numerous candidates.

Gov. Greg Abbott is the Republican nominee for governor, earning 81.76% of the vote.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, earning 84.72% of the vote.

However, the acting Texas comptroller Kelly Hancock fell to Don Huffines, who secured the Republican nomination for Texas comptroller with 57.36% of the vote.

Incumbent Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham ran in an unopposed primary race and is the Republican nominee for Texas Land Commissioner.

Middleton, Roy to face off in Texas AG Republican primary runoff race

No candidate was able to secure the coveted 50% of the vote plus one to avoid a runoff in the GOP Texas attorney general primary race.

That means oil businessman Mayes Middleton— with 39.12% of the vote — and U.S. Rep. Chip Roy — with 31.6% — will vie for the Republican nomination in May.

GOP candidates Joan Huffman and Aaron Reitz were defeated in the primary.

Sheets secures Republican nomination in Texas ag commissioner race

Nate Sheets was able to secure enough votes — 52.66% — to become the Republican nominee in the Texas agriculture commissioner race.

He defeated incumbent Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller.

French, Wright to face off in Texas railroad commissioner Republican primary runoff race

No candidate was able to secure the coveted 50% of the vote plus one to avoid a runoff in the GOP Texas railroad commissioner primary race.

That means Bo French — with 31.73% of the vote — and incumbent Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright — with 32.07% — will vie for the Republican nomination in May.

GOP candidates Katherine Culbert, Hawk Dunlap and Jim Matlock were defeated in the primary.
