Dumas boys wrestler Conner Smith was voted the Happy State Bank Boys High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 9-14.
Smith, a freshman, won the Class 5A UIL State Wrestling championship at 106 lbs., losing just once all season.
He received 17,782 of the 32,091 votes cast for Athlete of the Week, which was 55.4% of total votes.
Meanwhile, Borger girls wrestler Lila Breedlove has been voted the Happy State Bank Girls High School Athlete of the Week.
Breedlove, a junior, finished second at 100 lbs. at the Class 5A UIL State Wrestling championships.
She received 10,652 of the 32,091 votes cast for Athlete of the Week, which was 33.2% of total votes.
Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@amarillo.com.
Please include statistics from the week’s games and any pertinent information or honors. Voting runs through Thursday each week.
