The San Angelo City Council will have a special meeting to discuss the proposed Skybox/Emergent data center at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive, a city media release said.
During the public meeting, Skybox/Emergent officials will present the data center project and respond to public questions submitted in advance, the media release said.
San Angelo residents can submit questions through Friday at sanangelo.gov/DataCenter.
“The most common and pressing questions will be addressed at the meeting,” city officials said in the media release.
In addition, the City Council will take public comment at the end of the meeting. Register at sanangelo.gov/PublicComment until noon April 21 or in person before the meeting begins, the media release said.
The City Council will take no action at this meeting, the media release said. It will be recorded and later broadcast on SATV, Optimum Channel 17 and the city’s YouTube channel.
The proposed site for a data center is northeast of San Angelo near U.S. Highway 67 North and City Farm Road on city-owned property, according to a Feb. 18 Standard-Times article.
During a Feb. 17 meeting, the City Council discussed and took public input on a permit process for a data center site exceeding 3,000 square feet.
On Jan. 13, the City Council approved rezoning a district from ranch-and-estate zoning to light-manufacturing zoning for the proposed data center.
