Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has joined the lineup for The Coney, the upcoming Detroit charity event that will feature an array of local stars in a variety show-style night of entertainment, organizers announced Saturday.
Metro Detroiters Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Tim Meadows, Sam Richardson and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons have already thrown their hats into the ring for the event, Sept. 26 at the Detroit Opera House.
Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber and Toni Trucks joined the lineup earlier this week.
Along with Hawk, newly announced talent for the event includes Anna Garcia, the comedian and actress who starred alongside Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum in 2024’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” and Amber Ruffin, the comedy star familiar to viewers of “The Amber Ruffin Show” and “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
The Coney is being put on Marc Evan Jackson, the actor, writer, comedian, and founder of the Detroit Creativity Project, and it will raise money for youth arts in Detroit through the Children’s Foundation of Michigan.
Tickets for the event are available via Ticketmaster.
Hawk, 58, has several ties to Metro Detroit. In addition to marrying native Metro Detroiter Cathy Goodman, he has built a skatepark in Detroit, and he’s a partner in A Toda Madre, a restaurant set to open in early 2027 at the Shepherd cultural campus in Detroit.
