NBA 2K released their top-10 vertical jump rankings Monday, following the release of 3-point ratings, which included Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant. This list included another current Rockets forward, as Amen Thompson was given a 99 rating in the category, tied for first place with Dallas Mavericks rookie Tobi Lawal. Thompson’s brother, Ausar (Detroit Pistons), wasn’t far behind, ranking in a tie for third place with a rating of 98.
Although Thompson doesn’t quite have the highlight-reel dunks of some of the other players listed behind him, his physical tools are off-the-charts. This is the largest reason for his early success in the NBA despite poor shooting numbers, as Thompson’s athleticism has helped make him one of the league’s strongest defenders. In the last two seasons, Thompson has finished top-10 in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
