AT&T Stadium is one of the best entertainment venues in the world. While its main function is to be the home field for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, the building also hosts other sports events, music concerts, and shows. Most recently, the stadium hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup for a series of matches, during which the large windows were tinted and curtains were used to stop the sun from shining through and affecting the players performances.
That’s a lot of care to put into games that don’t mean as much to owner Jerry Jones as the team he owns does. For Cowboys games, there has never been any tint or use of curtains to ensure there’s no effect on the game. However, could Jones be changing his tune on the aesthetic provided by the sun coming through the giant windows?
Hold your breath Cowboys fans, Jones might be willing to make the change.
In a recent interview with FOX 4’s Mike Doocy, the owner said “he’s thinking about it” when it comes to putting up the curtains to stop the sun from coming through during Cowboys games. He also mentioned he likes the effects of the tint.
However, as Jones was also quick to point out, thinking about it and doing it are two different things.
If he did make the decision to use something to stop the sun from shining down onto the field, it would be quite the change. The owner has repeatedly said he likes the way it looks when sun streams through the giant glass panes and in 2024 Jones got very defensive about putting up anything to stop it from happening, cracking “let’s just tear down the stadium and build another one.”
Not wanting to block the sun coming through during Cowboys games has always been an odd stance from Jones, especially when it has affected his team on multiple occasions. Last season wide receiver George Pickens lost a ball in the glare of a November game, which caused fellow WR CeeDee Lamb to say “welcome to Dallas.”
The season prior, Lamb missed on what could have been an easy touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles because the sun was in his eyes.
If the Cowboys did use some tint or hang the curtains during Cowboys games, it would represent a major shift in philosophy for Jones. It would also go a long way in changing the mind of fans who believe Jones values his ego and doing what he wants more than winning.
The sun might no longer be in Jerry Jones’ eyes about his beloved AT&T Stadium, and maybe soon they’ll be no need for Manfred Mann’s Earth Band’s classic tune ‘Blinded By The Light during Cowboys games.
