The owners of Amo Café Rose at the edge of Downtown El Paso are excited to announce they are expanding their passion for pink to the East Side. Amo Café East is expected to open on McRae Boulevard in time for Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
Barbara Chavarria, café owner, said the expansion is in response to many customers from the East Side asking for a second location. The business has thrived at 412 E. Yandell Drive for three years.
“It’s been a cool concept that we brought to El Paso and that was inspired by the pink cafés in England,” she said. “It’s a restaurant where we do events and with a gift shop as well, with gifts for whoever you are celebrating.”
The café is a Barbie’s dream, completely covered in pink from flower-covered walls and teddy bears everywhere to pink furnishings and decor. The business on Yandell also has an event room that is often reserved for special occasions such as ladies’ brunches, graduations, birthday celebrations and baby showers.
“It’s been appealing to many girls, from the little ones to the grown ones, and also to families because it’s family oriented,” she said.
The restaurant’s menu is just as colorful, with pretty-in-pink drinks, sandwiches and salads, salmon dishes, and some Mexican delights such as chilaquiles. Among the specialties is a hamburger with an edible gold covering.
Chavarria said Amo Café East, which will be at the McRae Shopping Center, 9627 Sims Blvd. Ste A., will have the same pink theme but in a bigger space.
“The menu will be along the same lines except that we will be adding a steak,” she said.
