Police ID man killed after being struck by vehicle in west Lubbock

Police have identified a 69-year-old man who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in west Lubbock.

Officers were initially called about 7:46 a.m. May 9 to the 5100 block of 19th Street for a reportof a collision with injuries involving a pedestrian, according to a statement from Lubbock police.

Upon arrival, officers located 69-year-old Charles Hargrove. He was taken via ambulance to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Hargrove had just finished yard work when he stepped off the curb and was standing in the street when he was struck by a vehicle as it was traveling west in the right-hand lane.

No arrests have been made, but other details about the crash were not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
